The Dish Market Report, June 1, 2021

top of mind news

THIS WEEK’S DISH MARKET REPORT IS SPONSORED BY FRESH CONCEPTS.

Asparagus

Volume from Caborca continues to increase and this trend should continue for the next two to three weeks. We should see a leveling off on volume during the 2nd week in March. The Peruvian season has come to an end due to seasonality. Markets are less active with more volume from Mexico every week.

Green Beans

Good supply and quality out of Georgia.

Blueberries

Market is less active this week with more Chilean and Mexican product available. Domestic and Mexican supplies remain limited due to very cold weather and rainfall.

Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe production is showing a nice mix of sizing. Short term weather forecasts should put temperatures at optimal levels to hopefully maintain a decent spread of sizing. Early reports on internal quality have shown solid brix levels.

Honeydew

Honeydew supply remains very low on both domestic melons and from Mexico. Honeydew availability could be an issue throughout the Arizona season over the next 4-5 weeks if Nogales crossings do not increase.

Iceburg Lettuce

Supplies remain steady out of the Salinas Valley growing region. Supplies continue to increase week over week due to optimal growing weather. The quality is very good.

Limes

150 counts and larger remain limited. Markets are decreasing and are expected to continue this trend.
