DINING ALLIANCE SUPPORTS LOCAL YOUTH FOOD PROGRAM WITH GENEROUS DONATION

Using Food Purchasing Power For Good

Dining Alliance, the nation’s leading foodservice buying group – continues to serve and support its community by donating $5,000 to the local Waltham Boys and Girls Club Food Program, which provides nutritious options for Waltham youth in need, outside of school hours.

“It is important to our organization to support our local community and I can think of no more meaningful or relevant way than to help provide healthy food to children,” said John Davie, CEO of Dining Alliance. “Our goal is to continue supporting the Waltham Boys and Girls Club through monetary and food donations as well as volunteering. I’m very proud of our employees who have already volunteered their time!”

The Waltham Boys and Girls Club Food Program instills proper nutrition and life-long cooking skills learned through their 4 crucial and goal-oriented programs including:

• After School Meal Program – During the school year a healthy meal is served between 4-6pm on school days; and lunch is served on Saturdays and vacation days 11am-1pm.

• Summer Meal Program – During the summer months, when young people are not receiving free breakfast and lunch at school, WBGC fills that void by serving breakfast at their main sight, and lunch at 9 different strategic sites throughout Waltham.

• Healthy Waltham: Healthy Cooking Program – Weekly, hour-long cooking classes for youth participants ages 8-12. Educates participants in basic nutrition knowledge, and encourages participants to prepare healthy meals.

• Kids Cooking Green Program – Innovative, hands-on cooking program for youth ages 10-14. Empowers kids to make healthy food choices and develop their own cooking skills in a fun way.
