
A twenty five year veteran of the restaurant industry, Jim Baron is CEO of Blue Mesa Grill, which includes five Blue Mesas, TNT/Tacos and Tequila, a licensed Taco and Tequila Bar, and Zinsky’s deli. Jim has a Ph.D. in Psychology, eight years of executive experience with Taco Bell and El Torito Restaurants, Inc., and twenty years of experience owning and running a multi-unit restaurant business.
Professional psychological education and practice are useful skills in an industry as employee and customer driven as the restaurant business. A key element of this training is Jim’s team building skills and the Company’s continued focus on quick response to customer needs.
At Taco Bell and El Torito Restaurants Inc., Jim was Director of Training and Vice President of Operations Support, respectively. He was responsible for developing and implementing innovative systems to ensure standardized operation at these multi-unit chains. Jim’s experience building the systems and products for an expanding group of restaurants assists Blue Mesa in building the infrastructure it needs to grow.
As President of Mesa SW Restaurants, Inc, Jim has developed and operated three different successful restaurant concepts, operated three On The Border Cafes as a franchisee, and supervised an organization with over 500 employees.
Jim is also actively involved in business and civic organizations. His talent and leadership have been honored by his community and the restaurant industry. Former Dallas Mayor, Ron Kirk, appointed Jim as Chair of the City of Dallas Environmental Health Commission, he was the first President of the Texas Restaurant Association’s Education Foundation and he was awarded in 1995 Dallas Restaurateur of the year by the Dallas Restaurant Association. The Jewish Community Center of Dallas awarded Jim “Leader of the Year for 2001”. In 2004 he was elected to the Texas Restaurant Association Hall of Fame.
The total of this experience gives Jim the knowledge, maturity and leadership to manage and grow Blue Mesa Grill.
